Single-Channel HD Video, 1hr 46secs
Roundtable Conversation features a discussion between family members of Black men who have died in police custody and psychiatric units, mental health and legal professionals; activists and artists who reflect on violence as it relates to institutional racism and what needs to be done to free the Black mind. Off-camera, Anderson asked the group to reflect on violence as it relates to institutional racism, the oppression of Black minds and bodies and to imagine together what Black liberation would look like and what progressive or revolutionary strategies will get us there.
Participants:
Ajibola Lewis, Marcia Rigg, Leslie Thomas QC, Hakim Taylor, Melba Wilson, Melz Owusu and Barby Asante.
The work was commissioned by Block 336 in partnership with Black Cultural Archives with support from Arts Council England, Elephant Trust, Lux, Spike Island, Black Thrive and Lambeth Mind.
